“If not you, who? If not now, when?”
Contact Hamilton is looking for youth and parents to join its Hamilton Youth Advisory and Family Advisory Councils.
Contact Hamilton is the service coordination planning agency that oversees Hamilton’s Special Needs Strategy. As part of its implementation plan, Contact Hamilton is seeking youth with complex special needs who use or need children’s rehabilitation services, and their families to help ensure a system that is more accessible to and more focused on you, the individuals who need it the most.
Your “lived experience” makes you the best possible candidate to advise Hamilton service providers on what is important to children and youth with complex special needs.
Contact Hamilton is looking for 12-15 people for each council (Youth Advisory Council and Family Advisory Council) who want to make the system better.
• The Youth Advisory Council will be comprised of youth with complex special needs between the ages of 12 and 21.
• The Family Advisory Council will be comprised of family members like siblings and parents of children and youth with complex special needs.
Your input will ensure that students with complex special needs receive the timely and effective services they need at home, at school, in the community and as they transition to adulthood.
Contact Hamilton is working together with service providers and educators across the community to do this. But they can’t do it alone.
You can help.
Applications are due by Friday, May 12, 2017.
