Here at Holy Name of Jesus, we take recreational reading very seriously! Our book clubs are well underway, from Junior K to grade 8 in our learning commons.
While the little ones are read to, the older primary grades and junior and intermediate divisions meet on a weekly basis in the learning commons to discuss the reading they did in the previous week. Every time a student finishes a book, they get to place a leaf on the Forest of Reading Tree in our LC. Looks like it's already getting pretty full!
The Forest of Reading® is Canada's largest recreational reading program! This initiative of the Ontario Library Association (OLA) encourages a love of reading in people of all ages. The Forest helps celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. More than 250,000 readers participate annually from their School and/or Public Library. We want to develop recognition for Canadian authors and Canadian books and to encourage a love of recreational reading in our schools.
Keep on reading, HNOJ!
