Event Date: Jan 28, 2022
The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board and Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS) continue to prioritize vaccination for children and youth as an effective strategy to protect students and staff from COVID-19 and keep schools open for in-person learning. Vaccines are one of the infection prevention and control measures you can take to protect yourself from getting very sick and being hospitalized with COVID-19. It is also important for the protection of our youngest children (0-4) years, who are not yet eligible for vaccine protection.
Toward this effort, the HWCDSB is working closely with HPHS to offer school-based clinics to provide first or second doses to students outside of school hours.
A walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be offered on
Friday, January 28, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Elementary School, 15 St. Ann Street, Hamilton, ON L8L 0B8. The clinic is open to students ages 5-11 and family members from
Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Elementary School as well students and families from St. Patrick CES, St. Ann CES and St. Lawrence CES.
Consentaged 5 to 11
require parental or guardian consent to participate in the vaccine clinic. A completed
Ministry of Health consent form is required if the parent/guardian will not be attending the clinic with the child. Health cards are preferred, but you can also bring other forms of identification (ID).
Preparing Your Child for VaccinationMake sure your child eats and drinks as usual, to prevent feeling faint or dizzy while being vaccinated. Make sure your child wears a loose-fitting/short sleeve t-shirt. Please speak to your child about the many benefits of being vaccinated against COVID-19. It is normal for children to be nervous. Talk to your child about how to deal with anxiety and pain from the needle.
While COVID-19 vaccinations are safe, we understand you or your child may have questions about the vaccine. If you have questions about COVID-19 vaccines for children and youth, please visit
Vaccine Information Sheet for Children for further information.
