During the month of May we honour the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary was born many, many years ago and grew up in a town called Nazareth. She is the daughter of St. Anne and St. Joachim. The Angel Gabriel appeared to her and told her that she was going to give birth to the Son of God, Jesus. Mary agreed to be the Mother of God. She gave birth to Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem. As Jesus grew up and began His public ministry, Mary continued to support and love Him. When Jesus was dying on the Cross He gave Mary to the whole world to be the Mother of everyone. Mary is our spiritual mother and loves each of us very much.

Below is a list of some ways that we can show our honour and love for Mary during the month of May:

• Talk to Mary from your heart for 1-2 minutes every day
• Pray a Hail Mary everyday
• Pray part or all of the Rosary

• Learn more about Jesus and your Catholic Faith
• Get a picture of Mary and put it in your room
• Wear a medal of Mary or a necklace or bracelet with her picture on it
• Say the name of “Mary” many times during the day
