Grade 3-8

The Holy Trinity

God is the Supreme Being. He made the Universe and everything in it. He is eternal, which means that He always existed and He always will exist. He is all-knowing and all-loving. He is all-powerful which means that He can do anything. And He is also omnipresent which means that He is everywhere.

There is only one God. But in God there are 3 Persons. This can be a little confusing. There are 3 Persons in God but not 3 gods. This is a mystery. We cannot fully understand it but we believe it because Jesus taught it to us and Jesus is God. We will not understand it until we reach Heaven. God the Father is the first Person. God the Son, Jesus, is the second Person and God the Holy Spirit is the third Person. THREE PERSONS, BUT ONLY ONE GOD. This is called the Trinity.

Each Person of the Holy Trinity loves us very much. We should think of the Holy Trinity each time we make the Sign of the Cross. This year the Feast of the Holy Trinity is on Sunday, May 26th, 2013.

Questions:

1. Did God have a beginning?
2. When we say that God is omnipresent, what does that mean?
3. How many gods are there?
4. How many Persons are there in God?
5. Which 2D shape is often used in pictures of the Trinity?
6. Which Saint used the 3 leaf clover to describe the Trinity?

JK-grade 2

Have you ever seen a 3 leaf clover? A 3 leaf clover is one plant but it has three leaves. That is one way that we can understand the Trinity. We believe in one God but there are three Persons in God.
